Bursaries

Critically during these uncertain economic times, the School is ambitious to make ever greater efforts to address the growing inequalities that are becoming increasingly prevalent in the wake of the pandemic. As an independent education becomes more of a stretch, if not an impossibility for so many for whom it would benefit, the Governors have committed to growing the number of substantial means-tested bursaries available.

There are currently 14% of pupils receiving on average 70% means-tested fee remission and we would like this to grow to an ambitious 20% of pupils receiving 75%+ fee remission. This is a very substantial goal, particularly in a school with a growing pupil population, but is a genuine statement of intent to transform the lives of more pupils than ever by enabling them to access the exceptional educational opportunities that Teddies provides.

'I was at a comprehensive school before Teddies. It was a really great school, but there weren’t many people in my class who actually wanted to work hard. It was easier to go with the flow and not push myself to do the best I could. When I came to Teddies, I found the pace of work exhilarating: I studied Latin and Greek for the first time. I was appointed Captain of Rugby in my final year and the feeling of leading the team out onto Upper 1 to play intense, competitive rugby against some of the most famous schools in England will stay with me for the rest of my life and I shall always be grateful. I am now studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol.'                                                - Ferdi (Sing's, 2015-2020)
