CAS Projects Lauren Bray writes: Throughout February and March, our Lower Sixth IB pupils were given the challenge of researching, planning, and carrying out a service-based project. Last Friday, the groups delivered a creative poster presentation to demonstrate their achievements. And what an amazing set of projects they produced! As a cohort they raised over £3,000 for a wide range of excellent charities, including School charity Asylum Welcome, The Oxford Foodbank, Run 4 Water, LGBT Hero, and The British Heart Foundation – to name a few. And not all the groups chose fundraising projects, some chose advocacy-based service, and others established new school societies to benefit the Teddies community. From teaching their peers British Sign Language, to delivering CPR training to the Shells, and rowing the distance from Afghanistan to Oxford, the pupils demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to service. It was very difficult to pick an overall winner, but the IB Team awarded first place to Group Nine for their excellent project on composting and sustainability within the School. They demonstrated thorough research, great advocacy skills, raised money and put a great deal of effort into their final presentation. Well done: Olivia Olisagu, Charlie Mullins, Fatou Njie, Ruby Norburn and Tana Simkin. We hope they enjoy the all-expenses paid trip to Mamma Mia’s!
