Endowment As many will know a school's endowment is a collection of many separate funds, set up through the generous charitable gifts of donors over the years. Endowed funds hopefully grow over time through a combination of new donations and investment returns, and funds are typically spent to meet both current needs and the needs of future generations. Most of these endowed funds are known as “restricted” funds that can only be spent in the way that the donor and school intended. The Teddies Endowment fund is very small in relation to our annual turnover so the Governors have decided to address this by re-investing the fund’s investment returns (previously capped at 4% drawdown) for the foreseeable future. All non-restricted donations including legacy donations will also be invested in the Endowment Fund to further enhance its growth, so that more meaningful proceeds can be drawn down in future to support the ambitious charitable purposes of the School. If you would like to be part of helping us grow the Teddies Endowment Fund and therefore leaving your legacy in perpetuity to support generations of pupils to come to Teddies please email [email protected] or call Rachael Henshilwood on +44 (0) 1865 319 438 who will be delighted to talk to you about your aims and wishes. 'St Edward’s has significant plans for the next decade. It is critical for the long-term future that the School has an endowment to help support those ambitions. Whilst past returns on current school assets have been good, investment returns alone will not provide the necessary funds going forward. We will work hard to ensure prudent investment decisions to maintain these returns are made but we are now asking our community to also help us grow the endowment for the long-term benefit of all pupils.' - Philip Winston, Governor Donate to the Endowment Manage Cookie Preferences
