In February Half Term, Biology Teacher Dr Louise Bowen took part in our Beyond Teddies community partnerships programme by leading a science workshop for a Year 5 class at St Aloysius' Primary School.

Dr Bowen writes:
'Pupils were asked to: look at a microscope slide of specialised leaf, draw a diagram and name some adaptations; order foetus models of different stages and describe the changes that take place; look at cress seeds grown without light, in the present of acid rain, with gravity altered and attempt to explain the results; and examine plants grown in soil and hydroponically and explain what the results mean for requirements for plant growth.

The pupils were all well engaged and all learned something new. Many asked me when I would return and said it was the best lesson that they had ever had. It was very much a success!'
